What is Spiral Mountain?
Once a virtual museum for all things Banjo-Kazooie, Spiral Mountain has now evolved into an active community and gathering place for B-K fans around the globe. In-game, Spiral Mountain is the home of Banjo and Kazooie and the same is hopefully the case for its online namesake; serving as a database for Banjo-Kazooie news, images, videos and a community for all of the B-K fans across the world to discuss our heroes. We've worked very hard to establish a place where you can talk about the B-K series and to ask questions without fear of being flamed or labelled a 'noob'. Some people will only be discovering this great series for the first time and will naturally have questions that need answering. Here is where you can find the answer in a fun, and safe, environment.
Specific game content such as reviews, features and walkthroughs are being added all the time, and as time passes there will also be a gradual shift to encompass all of Rare's games. However, the focus will remain on Banjo-Kazooie!
Be sure to check back constantly; just as in the Banjo universe Spiral Mountain has seen plenty of changes over the years through our television screens, the same can be said about its thriving virtual counterpart.
Is Membership Free?
Membership is 100% FREE! It takes Banjo far too long to lick all the postage stamps and Kazooie refuses to fly around carrying a grotty letter bag when the bills are due.
How do I become a member?
Though Spiral Mountain is chock-full of content for those just stopping by, you also have the option of becoming a member of the site. Becoming a member of Spiral Mountain gets you your own profile page, as well as the ability to post and make topics in the forums. To become a member, follow this link and you will be presented with the registration page. Enter a desired username and password and then click 'Submit'.
Providing someone hasn't already taken your desired username, you will then be a member of Spiral Mountain! Please bear in mind that every new account needs to be verified by the admin so please be patient if you are not verified straight away.
What are Mumbo Tokens for?
Mumbo Tokens are the currency around Spiral Mountain. In order to collect these handy oddities, you'll have to trade your secret items found around the site to Pawno in exchange for an ammount of tokens.
With the tokens you'll be able to buy new things from his Emporium including skins, collectables, signatures and avatars as well as large investments such as your own blog, video page and more! Competitons around the site will also deal out a plentiful ammount of these tokens, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled; the more tokens you have, the better!
What are the secrets and Jinjos / why can't we reveal them?
Secrets (the Stop N Swop secrets) are hidden all over Spiral Mountain.
Should you find one, click it to collect it! The same applies to the five different coloured Jinjos scattered around the site.
Find all the secrets and you'll earn a medal which is displayed in the forums. You can also sell your secrets for Mumbo Tokens!
Just like you wouldn't want to know what presents you've got for Christmas before opening them, part of the mystery and fun of secrets is having the surprise of finding them yourself.
Don't spoil the fun for everyone else, and don't ask for their locations either.
What is Pawno's Emporium?
After Pawnos business slowed to a standstill in Jolly Roger's Lagoon, he decided to open shop in Spiral Mountain to try his luck selling his many colorful items to members around the site. Pawno is willing to trade Mumbo Tokens for any 'secrets' found around the site, as well, he also allows members to spend their tokens in his shop to buy his merchandise on sale! To see what exactly is on sale, just pay a visit to Pawno's Emporium located on the My Settings Bar. Pawno is constanly getting new stock, so check back regularily. The Emporium is always open, and Pawno is always happy to do business with members new and old.
How do I get a Jiggy?
Just like in the Banjo games, Jiggies are rewarded to you after solving complex challenges. As it turns out, Spiral Mountain has its own such secret jiggy up for grabs... However, to get the glorious Secret Jiggy will require tactical thinking and brainpower than even Banjo couldn't master! How do you solve the puzzle? If we told you that, it wouldn't be much of a secret, would it? It has something to do with The Temple but you'll need a nice Key first...
How do I get Musical Notes?
Musical Notes were originally a counter to show how many achievements you've unlocked around the site. Purchasing select items from Pawnos Emporium such as blogs and the like would come packaged with a couple hundred notes. The more notes you had, the more you had accomplished. However, shortly after the musical notes were put into the site, some mangy bear and his companion breegull collected them all and took off. We are currently working on a new note system.
What / who is Dear Gobi?
Dear Gobi is the letters page here at Spiral Mountain. We've been able to secure the writing services of Gobi the camel, who you may recognize from the B-K games. Send him your letters (it can be about anything you like but a B-K focus would be preferable) and he will post his answers in the form of a blog at completely random and irregular intervals. He's always off on a trek to some far-flung corner of the globe so we never know when he will poke his head through the door to check the mailbag!
What does Flag/Unflag mean?
After you create a topic in the forums, you'll have the option of 'Flagging' it.
Flagging a topic lets mods/admins know that a certain topic needs their attention, sort of like a distress signal. Please note however, only the topic creator can flag their own topics. There are 2 types of flags the topic creator can choose from.
This is the Green Flag. The Green Flag keeps a topic from entering Deadwood and getting purged. By flagging your topic, you save it in the respective forum it was created under; even if your topic reaches the last page, it will still stay in that forum instead of being deleted permenantly. If you have created a topic that you want saved, simply flag it with a Green Flag.
This is the Red Flag. The Red Flag simply alerts moderators and the admins that your topic has no furthur reason for exsisting. Whether your original posted question was answered or the topic has gotten too far off-topic a convenient Red Flag will put your topic in line for a quick and speedy deletion. Keep in mind though; once a topic has been deleted by a moderator, it cannot be restored.
Help! I just joined the forum and I can't post!
There's no cause for alarm! Your account probably hasn't been validated by an admin yet. In order for your account to become fully activated the admin will have to manually inspect your account and approve it. Though this process may be very time consuming, it needs to be done as some members without such good intentions could simply create a name riddled with profanity and spam up the forums.
We apologize for any inconvienice this has to you, but in order to guarentee your expierience in the forum a positive one, this system will have to stay in check. As soon as an admin validates your account, you may post to your hearts content!
What are Rankings / How can I get them?
The ranking of any user may be viewed once in the forums. Rankings serve as a visual timer, showing other members how long you've been visiting the site. All members will start off as a "Colliwobble" and gradually evolve to the next level of rank over a period of time.
The total rankings and explanations are included below:
-Colliwobble: Under 25 days
-Grublin: 25-49 days
-Gruntling: 50-149 days
-Sir Slush: 150-199 days
-Jinxy: 200-499 days
-Ancient One: 500-999 days
-Legend: 1000+ days.
How do I change my title?
While you browse the many forums the site has to offer, you may notice that many members have funny and creative captions underneath their avatars and usernames.
These captions are called "Titles". In order to set yourself up with one of these titles, just pay a visit to the "My Settings" page and put your creative mind at work! Bear in mind that the admin and mods are always watching so please keep your titles clean. We don't want anyone being offended, or told off by their parents for someone else's bad language!
I tried to log out and I'm still on SM! Help!
If this happens, you're the victim of a very odd, but well-known bug here on Spiral Mountain. The exact cause of it is unknown, but have no fear, though very annoying, this little bug can be easily solved if you simply delete your cookies from your web browser.
What if I have a question not covered here in the FAQs?
If there's something else you're not sure about, and we haven't covered it here, then please visit the Site Help & Suggestions forum. Have a look around in there to see if another member has already asked a similar question; you will probably find your answer in that particular topic if they have. If not, post your question in a new topic and someone will be along to answer your query as quickly as possible. If you'd prefer, you can also e-mail the admin who will get back to you as soon as possible.

How do I create a shop in the Market Square?
Orginally, shops could be purchased through Pawno who had a vast selection of space for members to open shop in. However, the space has soon become overpopulated with shop owners and the whole area began to look messy an unorganised. Pawno has since redone the entire area, dividing the shop goods into three sections; avatars, signatures and skins.
The ability for members to create new shops has been suspended for now. Pawno may bring it back in the future, so keep your eyes peeled.
For now however, you can simply submit an item through to Pawno and he'll be sure to stock it on the shop shelf after he's inspected it!
I see some people have trophies in their profile, but not in their posts. What's up with that?
Every year around Christmas time, Spiral Mountain will host an Official 'Spiral Mountain Community Choice Awards' poll (SMCCA). The SMCCA is a special awards ceremony that recognizes the unique Spiral Mountain members and rewards them as such through several categories. When the official competition opens, the categories will be revealed as well as an email address to send your votes off to. At the end of the competition, the winners will be announced and given trophies to reflect the division they have won. The trophies will than appear in the winning users' profile page, but will not show up under their name when they post in the forums.
How do I become a staff member?
We're glad that you want to help out around here, but unfortunately we are not looking for any new staff at the moment. If the situation changes, we'll make sure you find out about it. However, that doesn't mean you still can't help us out if you want to. We are always on the look out for reviews, previews, features, editorials, hints and tips ... if you've written anything about the Banjo series, or other Rare games, and fancy having it displayed on Spiral Mountain for the world to see, e-mail it through to the admin.
Why is there no PM System?
For those of us unfamiliar with this acronym, a 'PM' system or 'Private Message' system was a way to send messages to various members around Spiral Mountain which only they could read.
Using this system, two members could relay messages back and forth between themselves on their respective accounts in order to get in contact with one another about personal or private matters. This system of messaging was shortlived however, as a PM system within a website, especially one that continues to grow like Spiral Mountain has, can be very big and takes up a lot of resources.
Pretty soon the system will be more clogged than Loggo's pipes during a lunch break at Grunty Industries. Trust us folks, it gets pretty messy! We are always looking at ways of improving this so that features such as a Private Message system can be re-introduced.
